Summary

Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.

A little about myself:
I am a 6-year-old boy who loves going outdoors, especially going to the beach and the woods. I like climbing trees and rocks, but I need to be supervised. I really enjoy long walks, especially with my dog, and love to go for an ice-cream. I love watching vehicles, particularly motorbikes.
I am a tough cookie, and enjoy going out in all weathers and digging in the mud and sand. I have an adorable smile, and am a bit of a cheeky chap. I can speak in short sentences sometimes, and am learning how to use an AAC device to support my communication, even using it to make jokes.

Driver required to take me out.

Hours of work
Negotiable (I am in full-time education and have a package that includes both term-time and school holidays)

Rate of pay
£13.13

Essential
I need you to:
• Ensure that I am safe. I need someone to be one step ahead to keep me safe;
• Be an active individual, as I like to walk, run, and climb;
• Have a sense of humour and playfulness, as this helps me to carry on when I find things hard;
• Be someone who is reliable, committed and flexible.

Desirable
I’d prefer if:
• You have a driving license with business insurance;
• You have previous experience;
• You have experience using an AAC device and GRID software, or a willingness to learn;
• You are first-aid trained, or willing to undergo such training.

I’d like support with:
• Changing my clothes, if needed, after playing in the mud or water;
• Using the toilet and washing my hands afterwards.

I will need my PA to:
Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality;
Be confident, mature and have patience;
Be dependable and arrive on time;
Be friendly with an easy-going manner;
Be adaptable and flexible;
Provide support when I need it, but let me do the things that I can, because I feel proud when I’m able to do things independently;
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.

Concerning the position
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
