Summary

Driver

Salary: £24,796 to £25,989 per annum (£18,429 to £19,316 pro rata)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 27.50 per week

Location: Northallerton, North Yorkshire

The Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team is responsible for the safe and efficient use of approximately 120 minibuses used to transport people in North Yorkshire. The team comprises approximately 350 drivers and passenger assistants that operate at locations throughout North Yorkshire. The team delivers approximately 250,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000 wheelchair user journeys.

The Role

The transport provided enables people to access schools, day centres, learning opportunities, supported employment and other meaningful activities in our community.

You will be responsible for the safety of passengers during these journeys and will ensure that the passengers board and alight safely as well as ensuring that any safety equipment is used correctly.

The work will involve driving Social Care routes, School routes and Local Bus Services routes transporting the public. A typical working week on a split shift Social Care route or School route would be approximately 0730-1030 am and 1430-1730 pm. However, these hours may need to vary to fit the needs of our customers. The Hours will normally be worked from Monday-Friday inclusive. This Driver role will involve split shifts for the Social Care routes and for the School routes, but the Local Bus Service work (transporting the public) is not split shifts (The hours are normally completed in one shift with appropriate breaks etc.).

The hours will be worked from Monday to Friday inclusive.

Skills and Experience

Full training in the use of all safety equipment will be provided. You will need good communication skills as you will liaise daily with the passengers, carers, establishment staff and colleagues. Experience is not essential, however, some experience of driving minibus type vehicles or working in a similar role would be an advantage for this post.

We are looking for caring, flexible, team orientated and committed people to help us provide this transport.

All drivers require a D1 driving licence entitlement.

The role will be mostly split shifts driving work apart from the Local Bus Service driving work (transporting the public) so the role will require you to be flexible to fit in with Integrated Passenger Transport demand.

This post involves access to vulnerable service users and if you were offered the position, you will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS background check.
