Summary
We expect the post-holder to support the delivery of a robust service in order to provide high quality care to Gastroenterology patients in a timely manner: to be responsible for inpatients on a rota basis on Knightsbridge ward based in Cheltenham General Hospital to be responsible for reviewing in-patient referrals and providing in patient endoscopy service at Gloucester Royal Hospital as part of the Gastroenterologist of the Day rota. to be responsible for providing advice and input to patients with Gastroenterology problems referred by other specialties when on-call or when attending a clinic to provide advice regarding patients with Gastroenterology problems referred by GPs and other staff (eg pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners etc) including via Cinapsis and Advice and Guidance as needed to provide outpatient clinics both at acute and community sites to provide consultant led dedicated endoscopic lists at acute and community sites within job plan including when on-call to review new patients to Knightsbridge ward but also to other acute wards during on-call weekends as well as potential discharges or those causing concern to be available to review or advise regarding gastroenterology patients in ED or SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) in a timely manner when on-call to conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements within the parameters of our Divisions and Trusts agreed objectives to support the clinical decision making of junior medical and nursing staff to support the delivery of the IBD service The post-holder will be immediately accountable to the Clinical Lead and Divisional Lead. The post-holder will be expected to undertake appraisal and to respond to any identified development needs The post-holder will have a general duty of care for their own health, safety and well-being and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital.
