Ready to make an impact?

Here at Serco, we’re looking for a PMO Officer to play a key role in supporting effective governance, coordination, and communication across our projects and programmes. You’ll help ensure that delivery follows agreed frameworks and standards, providing accurate and timely reporting to enable informed decision-making for both internal and external customers.

Working closely with the PMO Lead and wider delivery teams, you’ll support the smooth running of the portfolio — maintaining project documentation, supporting assurance and governance activities, and ensuring stakeholders remain engaged and well informed.

You’ll also assist project, programme, and portfolio Managers in applying best practice processes and ensuring delivery is consistent, transparent, and aligned with organisational standards.

You’ll be entrusted to:
· Support the delivery of an accurate and effective Programme Management Office (PMO) function, ensuring alignment with frameworks and standards.
· Provide leadership, guidance, and assurance to Project and Programme Managers throughout the lifecycle of initiatives.
· Offer expert advice on governance, risk management, and delivery planning, promoting high standards of control and quality.
· Develop and implement actions to resolve or prevent delivery challenges, enabling continuous improvement and innovation.
· Monitor and report on programme performance, ensuring clear visibility of progress, risks, and benefits to senior stakeholders.
· Lead the development and maintenance of PMO processes, templates, and tools that enable consistent, efficient delivery.
· Facilitate strong collaboration and communication between delivery teams, stakeholders, and governance bodies.

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
· Broad knowledge of business management principles and experience supporting complex programmes.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret project data and make sound recommendations.
· A proactive, detail-oriented approach, with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
· The ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders, using strong communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
· A clear understanding of programme and project governance, including risk management and dependency tracking.
· Experience using Power BI, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 tools to support reporting and collaboration.
· A relevant qualification such as PRINCE2 and/or a PMO certification or willing to obtain.
· PMO experience is essential.
