This is a full time (10PA) NHS Consultant / Senior Specialist Doctor Post in Genitourinary, Sexual Health and HIV medicine The post holder will be employed by Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT). The post will be based within the East Cheshire sexual health service.

We are seeking to recruit a Consultant / Specialist doctor with specialist skills in integrated sexual health and HIV medicine (including leading outpatient HIV clinics, management of sexually transmitted infection & contraception). The appointee will contribute in the Clinical Governance programme within the wider axess sexual health service and will have the opportunity to participate in research supported by our research lead and dedicated research nurse dependant on individuals experience and interest. Less than full time working (LFTW) and timetable flexibility are available.

Dependant on skills, experience and entry on the GMC Specialist register the successful candidate will be offered either a substantive Consultant contract or Specialist doctor (2021) contract on the associated national English contract pay scale.

This post is a substantive post The appointment will be a full-time (10 PA) Consultant / Senior Specialist doctor in Sexual Health, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with office accommodation provided at axess Macclesfield [Macclesfield District General Hospital site] and axess Crewe [Eagle Bridge Health and Wellbeing Centre].It is expected the Consultant / Senior Specialist Doctor will deliver appointment clinics in integrated sexual health and HIV medicine. The post holder would also be expected to deliver one evening clinic per week. Consultant clinics will consist of booked appointments for referrals from other members of the clinical team, or GP’s and directly booked patient appointments. Due to the more complex nature of the consultant clinics, appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes. A four hour clinic would consist of 7 appointments and a 30 minute clinical administration period.

The post holder would be expected to be fully independent in outpatient HIV clinical care (with support of wider regional MDT for complex cases).

There is no direct in-patient responsibility with this post. Attendance at the HIV MDT with local consultant colleagues is encouraged to discuss inpatients currently managed by the Infectious Diseases team (virtually by video conference).

The post has 10 Programmed Activities – 8.5 for direct patient care and 1.5 for supporting activities. A final timetable will be confirmed with the successful candidate on appointment and reviewed after an appropriate period in line with the trusts job planning policy, flexible and less than full time working will be considered.
