Job Advert
Torus Group is seeking a skilled and detail-driven Rent Control Officer to play a key role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity
and timeliness of all financial information within our rent accounting function. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the
completeness and reliability of rent data, support both input and output processes, and contribute to a broader understanding of
the priorities and challenges faced by the Finance team. We’re looking for someone who can add real value by streamlining systems
and procedures, helping us to continuously improve our financial operations.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Ensuring the daily and weekly accuracy of rent information, including importing cash receipting, DD/standing order, Housing
Benefit/UC files, and processing unmatched, miscellaneous, and dishonoured transactions.
* Providing support, information and advice to internal teams on rent accounting matters.
* Processing Housing Benefit overpayments and rent refunds.
* Ensuring rent change notifications are accurate and issued within agreed timescales.
* Processing and importing Allpay Direct Debit files.
* Supporting monthly rent reconciliations, investigating unreconciled items, and providing explanations for outstanding balances.
* Assisting with monthly management accounts, final accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, bad debt provisions, sinking fund
calculations and accruals.
* Supporting the annual rent-setting process and rent/service charge adjustments.
* Assisting with information required for statutory accounts.
* Responding to ad-hoc finance-related queries across the Group.
What We’re Looking For:
* Qualified by experience through knowledge gained through extensive relevant experience within the Finance function
* Evidence of and commitment to continual professional and personal development
* Relevant experience in a large and complex organisation/function
* Strong IT literacy, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a proactive approach to adopting new systems and ways of
working.
* Ability to engage with and challenge staff, peers, board members, tenants and external partners to build relationships based on
honesty, trust, mutual respect and integrity to inspire confidence and respect
Interview Process:
* Candidates will undergo in-person interviews, which will include a Microsoft Excel assessment followed by a competency-based
interview. Interviews will take place w/c15th December
