Job Purpose
To deliver the charity objectives.
To work closely with the Trustees to provide the strategic direction, planning and leadership necessary to develop the charity and create a sustainable future.
To ensure the smooth running of the organisation and its premises, which include the local community centre, with overall responsibility for the management and administration of the organisations affairs, the delivery of community services and initiatives, the securement and management of grant funding and the recruitment, training, management and welfare of staff and volunteers.
To manage the day-to-day financial activities of the organisation, including record-keeping, ensuring all financial management, cash handling, payment of invoices, banking, payroll and security procedures are followed and comply with policies and procedures, monitoring and evaluation requirements, relevant legislation, and charity best practice.
Place of Work and Office Hours
The General Manager is based at the registered offices of the organisation at the Enterprise & Initiative Centre, High Newham Road, Hardwick, Stockton-on-Tees and is expected to attend other venues as part of their role. This is a full-time position between the hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday through to Thursday and 9am to 2pm Friday.
The General Manager may be required to work out of hours on occasion i.e. to attend, clerk and report at monthly meetings of the Trustees or at such times as advised and agreed.
Principal Accountabilities
• To implement the strategies of the initiative as identified by the Board of Hardwick in Partnership Ltd providing written/verbal reports of progress at regular intervals.
• To attend and clerk meetings of the Board of Hardwick in Partnership Ltd held at
regular intervals or as and when required.
• To promote the organisation and participate in developing effective relationships with the local community and other organisations.
• To ensure the continuous process of strategic planning for the organisation is
developed and that the Board are fully involved in the strategic decision making
process.
• To seek and secure funding for the organisation as part of an on-going funding strategy and to implement projects and initiatives in accordance with the relevant funding criteria.
• To establish and maintain appropriate financial systems and controls to ensure the
propriety of public funds and enable sound, sustainable financial decision making.
• To ensure that appropriate and effective systems and procedures operate throughout the organisation.
• To lead the staff of the organisation with the delegated responsibility for the direct
supervision of employees as directed by the Board.
• To ensure an effective programme of training of training and personal development is available for all directors, staff and actively involved members of the organisation.
• To ensure that the company complies with the law and oversee the development and
implementation of policies and practices relating to equal opportunities, health and
safety and other relevant matters.
• To ensure that appropriate HR policies and procedures are developed, implemented and adhered to in compliance with relevant employment legislation.
• To undertake any other duties and responsibilities which are commensurate with the nature and grading of the post, as directed by the Board.
