Summary

Communication and working relationships Work with Commissioners, Clinical Leads and external Quality Assurance to identify areas for improvement and service development; identifying areas of best practice and learning locally, regionally and nationally To translate and communicate national, regional and local strategy for the services to all levels of staff using a variety of strategies to support understanding Ensure team working and strong staff involvement across different areas by including all staff appropriate and having an open flexible approach to communication and engagement Close working relationship with the Gastroenterology service manager Analytical and judgement Monitoring system and key management data, including regular interpretation of data and trends. Analyse speciality activity data against local, regional and national benchmarks. Analyse complex contractual and performance data to identify trends and areas for further improvement Planning and organisation Use service improvement tools and techniques to identify areas for change and implement and evaluate small tests of change. To undertake capacity and demand analysis within the area of responsibility in preparation for business planning and contract negotiations, communicating with operational and clinical managers for strategic planning purposes. To support the development of business cases within the ISU Monitoring systems and key management data for regular interpretation of data and trends The post holder will be expected to work with the minimum of supervision and prioritise their activities in order to ensure that an efficient service is provided. Policy and service development To have an active role in the strategic planning for services to ensure that performance can be met and sustained in the light of any national developments to service specifications To provide appropriate activity and performance reports to all stakeholders when required To ensure service users and other key stakeholders are involved in service improvement process Develop and implement workforce plans within areas of responsibility to deliver the needs of the service including responsibility for recruitment, retention and succession planning Finance, equipment and other resources Negotiate contractual agreements and financial reimbursements with all stakeholders Identify income generation for education together with ways of making efficiencies to contribute to the SDU CIP, working alongside finance and management colleagues to cost proposal and ensure affordability To manage the allocated budgets, authorise and account for expenditure ensuring efficient use of the resources available
