Summary

Site Operative Team Leader - Avonmouth

Avonmouth, Bristol | £15.38 per hour | 37.5 hours per week | Monday-Friday | Rotating shifts

Introduction

An opportunity has arisen for a Site Operative Team Leader in Avonmouth, Bristol. The main purpose of the role is to control and manage the Grain Intake process, working to documented procedures to maintain high standards of health and safety, food safety, equipment operation, hygiene, and quality. The role includes training and daily supervision of the team, along with working to improve the efficiencies of the silo area.

The shift rotates between 6am-6pm. The team consists of three people, with the usual rota being 6am-2pm / 10am-6pm / 8am-4pm. Flexibility is expected, along with overtime to cover holiday, absence, or production issues.

Requirements
  • Safety & Health and HACCP Level 3 in Food Safety.

  • Work experience in a production environment.

  • Leadership experience.

  • Working towards the full UK Flour Millers Exams.

  • Good communication skills.

Key Duties
  • Perform all silo duties including wheat intake, wheat transfer, and outloading of products (wheat feed). Learn the wheat testing routines within the TC lab.

  • Operate the weighbridge and maintain accurate stock control records, assisting with problem solving stock deviations.

  • Maintain food safety traceability within the silo systems and across the wider site, presenting documented findings promptly.

  • Assist Millers with plant equipment operation, mill operating systems, the screen room, and finished product handling.

  • Ensure Master Sanitation Audit performance measures are met within the silo building and liaise with the Site Services Supervisor regarding cleaning.

  • Conduct sampling and analysis of raw materials, internal stocks, and finished products to ensure product quality.

  • Carry out work with due diligence and in accordance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.

  • Lead Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for the silo area.

  • Assist Millers and Process Technicians with plant maintenance within skill capability to ensure optimum plant operation.

  • Minimise milling downtime to ensure plant efficiency.

  • Train Site Operatives from induction through to competence, including regular supervision and reviews.

  • Identify improvement ideas and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Build a strong personal development plan to support performance excellence across the site.
