The Housekeeping Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and infection control standards across the hospital. You will oversee the housekeeping team, ensuring that all clinical and non-clinical areas, including patient wards, theatres, and public spaces, are cleaned to the highest standards. This position requires a strong, proactive leader with excellent supervisory skills and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
• Supervise and lead a team of housekeepers, ensuring smooth daily operations and high standards of cleanliness across all areas.
• Organise and manage staff rosters to ensure full coverage across all shifts (including evenings, weekends, and some nights).
• Provide on-the-job training and development for housekeeping staff, ensuring compliance with infection control and safety standards.
• Support the Assistant Hotel Services Manager with staff recruitment, training, and performance appraisals.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene within hospital wards, clinical areas, and theatres in line with NHS cleaning standards and infection control guidelines.
• Handle cleaning audits and assist with monitoring the hospital's cleanliness standards, responding to patient feedback and departmental requirements.
• Assist with ordering supplies, equipment, and ensuring adequate stock levels for the team.
• Deal with any environmental hazards, such as chemical spills and floods, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
• Participate in fire emergency response and support fire evacuation procedures.
