Summary
Barnsley College is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Apprentice to join our dynamic IT Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in Information Technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the installation and configuration of computer operating systems, applications, and hardware.
Provide first-line technical support to staff and students via phone, email, and ticketing systems.
Perform basic troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues under supervision.
Maintain accurate records of IT assets, deployments, and service requests.
Support the Service Desk team in resolving incidents and escalating complex issues when necessary.
Prepare and set up IT equipment for classrooms, offices, and events.
Follow College IT policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance.
Keep up to date with industry developments and actively participate in training sessions.
Skills and Qualities:
Strong interest in IT and technology.
Good problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
Basic understanding of computer systems, networks, and Microsoft Office applications.
Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Entry Requirements:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred).
A genuine passion for IT and technology.
No prior experience required – full training will be provided.
