Electrical Manager UK Defence Academy, Swindon, SN6 8LA Permanent, Full time, Mon-Thurs 8am-4pm, Fri 8am-3:30pm Up to £45,000 depending on experience Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Electrical Manager to join the Estates Department at the UK Defence Academy.
Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and the majority of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.
As the Electrical Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team to deliver electrical operations across the estate and be accountable for the in-house electrical team, subcontractors, work planner and work controllers to ensure Serco meets its contractual requirements.

Main responsibilities:


- Lead the electrical department by example, ensuring teamwork and staff morale are maintained and enhanced.
- Responsibility for the development and delivery of all sites electrical pre-planned· Maintenance (PPM), remedial works and reactive maintenance. This includes all HV and LV works, as well as other activities such as PAT testing, electronic access systems and site security equipment.

- Undertake Leadership and Engagement activities across the site
- Conduct staff appraisals, absence management and disciplinary procedures for electrical department staff.
- Act as technical lead for Serco on site for all electrical matters relating to infrastructure. Liaison with Mechanical and Build managers to ensure smooth cross discipline collaboration.
- Ensure site compliance of JSP375 Chap 3 for all on site electrical works.
- Responsible for reporting non-compliance to the Hard FM Operations manager.
- Accountable for full compliance to the Serco Management System policies for the electrical department.
- Review and sign off all Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) for site and Service Families Accommodation (SFA).
- Carryout and manage the skilled persons register for the electrical discipline.
- Liaison and advice to the Project Management (PM) department on electrical matters.
- Health and Safety compliance for the property campus, alongside the delivery of safe methods of working (Contractor control, permits to works etc.)
- Asset validation of the estate’s property portfolio for all electrical assets
- Using the Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system to always demonstrate statutory compliance. Training given on the site-specific programme.
- Goods receipting of all electrical invoices to ensure they are fully completed and in line with agreed Contract terms
- Work productively with other Serco personnel, ensuring that their productivity and attitude is not adversely affected by your actions and/or behaviour
- Ensure all confidential information remains within the company and is not relayed in either verbal or written form to persons or organisations outside the company.
- Adhere to all company protocols and procedures
- Development of Electrical supply chain contracts to ensure contract terms and conditions, specifications and rate cards are in place and applied to the work tasks

Essential Skills

- High level of common sense; able to produce simple solutions to complex issues
- Demonstrate clear decision making in a timely manner based on facts and sound rationale
- High level of interpersonal skills; able to communicate at all levels both orally and in the written word. Able to motivate others to succeed
- A relevant formal qualification in electrical engineering and/or building services engineering
- Use of FM CAFM Systems
- Line management experience with a high level of motivation, energy, drive and enthusiasm with the focus on others. Ability to lead by example.
- CDM knowledge and experience
- Thorough knowledge and application of H&S and Environmental matters, with relevance to those impacting the construction industry
- Detailed understanding of relevant regulations, legislation and standards relating to the electrical industry
- Excellent planning and organisational ability with an analytical, financial and numerate approach to problems
- Proficient time management skills to meet demanding programmes of work
- Highly literate and experienced with IT, demonstrating ability in MS Office
- including Email, Outlook, Word and ExcelDesirable Skills

- Demonstrable experience in a similar role at manager level
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate
- Experience of property standards such as SFG20, CIBSE Guide M etc
- Membership of relevant professional institution (e.g. CIBSE, IET)
- Previous MOD experience with an ability to demonstrate clear understanding of relevant
- MOD JSPs-Highly Desirable
