The Role

Carlisle Support Services is working with Olympia, our prestigious new client in West London, and we’re looking for motivated, approachable, and dependable people to join our team.

As a Public Realm (Response) Security Supervisor, you will lead and coordinate Public Realm Response Officers to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across Olympia’s public and external spaces. You will oversee patrols, manage incidents, and support public engagement while maintaining high professional standards and operational readiness in alignment with estate security requirements.

Previous experience in managing a team within a security environment is required for this role. What’s just as important is your enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Your core responsibilities will include

Operational Leadership & Team Supervision

  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise the Public Realm Response Officers across the shift, ensuring consistent coverage and performance across the estate’s external zones.
  • Conduct daily briefings, assign patrol zones, and manage dynamic deployment based on footfall, events, and threat levels.
  • Monitor officer conduct, appearance, and engagement with the public, ensuring adherence to Olympia’s professional standards.

Patrol Oversight & Perimeter Security

  • Oversee the execution of proactive foot patrols across:
    • Public plazas and walkways
    • External entrances to venues and offices
    • Perimeter fencing, gates, and vulnerable access points
  • Ensure patrols are logged, verified, and adjusted in response to operational intelligence or incidents.

Incident Command & Escalation

  • Act as the on-ground incident commander for all public realm incidents, including:
    • Suspicious packages or persons
    • Anti-social behaviour or public disturbances
    • Medical emergencies or accidents
    • Fire alarms or evacuations
  • Coordinate with the Control Room, emergency services, and estate management to ensure timely and effective resolution.

Public Engagement & Conflict Management

  • Support officers in managing interactions with the public, including de-escalating confrontations and addressing complaints or concerns.
  • Ensure officers are delivering a visible, approachable, and reassuring presence in line with Olympia’s public-facing ethos.
  • Liaise with event organisers, tenant representatives, and facilities teams to align public realm security with operational needs.

Threat Monitoring & Intelligence Sharing

  • Monitor for signs of hostile reconnaissance, protest activity, or emerging threats in the vicinity of the estate.
  • Gather and relay intelligence to the Control Room and Security Management Team for situational awareness and risk mitigation.
  • Support implementation of counter-terrorism initiatives through officer deployment and public engagement.

Compliance, Reporting & Documentation

  • Review and submit incident reports, patrol logs, and shift summaries to the Security Operations Manager.
  • Support audits, inspections, and investigations as required.

Training, Development & Performance Management

  • Deliver on-the-job coaching and scenario-based training to Public Realm Officers.
  • Identify performance issues and escalate disciplinary concerns in line with contract management procedures.
  • Promote continuous improvement through feedback, lessons learned, and operational reviews.

Technology & Equipment Oversight

  • Ensure officers are correctly using radios, body-worn video (BWV), patrol verification systems, and mobile reporting tools.
  • Report faults or equipment issues to the Control Room Supervisor or Technical Support Team.

Skills & Experience

  • Able to successfully motivate and lead a team in a fast-paced mixed-use environment.
  • SIA Door Supervision licence holder.
  • 5 years checkable work and address history.
  • Experienced in customer-facing roles and busy working environments.
  • Supervisory experience covering a range of Security settings is desirable i.e. corporate, commercial, retail, events.
  • A team player, flexible and supportive, putting team goals first.
  • Effective people skills, able to interact with colleagues, customers, and members of the public in a positive and professional manner.
