ELECTRICIAN Operational Base: Basingstoke, Hampshire The Opportunity

We are recruiting an accomplished and quality-driven Certifying and Maintenance Electrician to join our dedicated housing services team, with a primary focus on operations within the Basingstoke area. This specialist role is critical for ensuring our portfolio meets all electrical safety standards, combining mandatory inspection work with comprehensive maintenance and refurbishment tasks.

Core Responsibilities
  • Electrical Inspection & Compliance (EICR):

    • Take responsibility for executing the mandated five-year electrical safety testing program across residential and communal properties.

    • Produce thorough Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and accurately specify and complete all necessary remedial actions identified.

    • Perform initial verification and rigorous testing procedures for new installations, upgrades, and circuit additions.

  • Repairs, Upgrades, and Voids Management:

    • Provide effective and timely reactive maintenance, expertly diagnosing and resolving electrical faults for residents.

    • Complete all electrical installations, checks, and certification required to ensure rapid and compliant turnaround of vacant properties (Voids).

    • Contribute to capital works programs by undertaking electrical installation tasks within planned modernizations (e.g., kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems).

    • Install, service, and maintain communal and external lighting systems.

  • Technical Standards and Administration:

    • Ensure strict adherence to the current 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) in all technical delivery.

    • Accurately complete and issue all required electrical certifications utilizing approved digital certification software (NICEIC or similar standard).

    • Maintain precise and detailed records of all inspection findings, tests, and maintenance activities.

  • Customer Service:

    • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and courteous communication when dealing with tenants, representing the organization effectively.

Essential Qualifications and Prerequisites

The following qualifications are mandatory and non-negotiable for this role:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance, or a formally recognised equivalent apprenticeship/qualification.

  • Current Certification to the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (e.g., C&G 2382-18).

  • AM2 (Achievement Measurement 2) Certificate - Required.

  • Formal qualification in the Inspection, Testing, and Certification of Electrical Installations (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or the combined C&G 2394/2395).

  • Proven, practical experience in electrical fault finding, installation, and maintenance, ideally in a domestic setting.

  • A current, full UK Driving Licence.

  • Experience within the social housing sector or property maintenance field is advantageous.

Tools Requirement: The successful applicant must supply their own standard inventory of professional electrical hand tools and portable power tools.
