About the Role

National research shows that healthcare professionals in England report high rates of domestic abuse with serious personal and work impacts. Nationally, nurses are three times more likely to experience domestic abuse than the average person.

In this role, you will:


Deliver the CARE Project: Culture, Awareness, Response, Empowerment - Transforming the NHS’s approach to supporting employees affected by domestic abuse - throughout Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SHPU) and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH). This is a project funded by Sheffield Hospitals Charity.
To build positive relationships with a range of health professionals, including but not limited to managers, team leaders, HR, Occupational Health and safeguarding staff, to ensure that they know how to recognise domestic abuse, support staff experiencing domestic abuse and be able to refer into IDAS services if needed.
Develop and deliver a programme of domestic abuse training to healthcare professionals and wellbeing practitioners to breakdown barriers to support and create a zero-tolerance culture.
Provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.
Support clients in making their homes safer and refer clients to other IDAS services, external agencies, counselling, or refuge accommodation where appropriate.
Liaise with external agencies such as housing, health, social services, police, and legal professionals to advocate for clients.
Refer high-risk clients to the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and represent them as needed.
Complete risk assessments and develop effective safety plans tailored to each client’s needs.
Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with IDAS policies.
Promote awareness of domestic abuse and IDAS services through training and partnership work.
Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring services are accessible and responsive to the needs of all communities, including those who are underrepresented or marginalised.
