This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a service that values innovation, collaboration, and family empowerment. You will be part of a team that is committed to improving outcomes for children and families through restorative and relational approaches.
What you’ll be doing as a – Family Group Decision Making Worker
As a Family Group Decision Making Worker, your role is to act as an impartial facilitator for families who need to create a plan for the safety and well-being of their children. Your primary responsibility is to bring together the family's network—including parents, children, grandparents, and other trusted relatives or friends—along with relevant professionals like Social Workers, Early Help Workers, and External Partners. You will guide this group through a structured process that enables them to have a private, uninterrupted discussion where they can identify their own strengths and resources. The goal is for the family to design and agree upon a plan that addresses any concerns and ensures the children are safe, supported, and cared for.
You are responsible for the entire Family Group Decision Making process, from the initial referral to the final plan. This includes preparing the family by explaining the process and helping them invite key members. During the meeting, you ensure that every family member's voice is heard and that the conversation remains constructive. Your role is not to make decisions for the family but to empower them to find their own solutions. Once the plan is created, you will document it and provide a copy to all participants. Ultimately, your work is about strengthening family bonds and helping them build a sustainable support network that can continue to function long after your involvement ends.
