Role: Head of Finance – CS & Finance C01
We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead and manage a Finance Team, providing comprehensive financial direction, support, and guidance. You will advise on strategic finance and business partnering, support directorates in budget-setting, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a Finance Team within the Service Finance and Business Partnering Division.
Support directorates in budget-setting, identifying savings, and mitigating financial pressures.
Oversee budget monitoring, reporting, and closing of directorate accounts.
Provide strategic financial advice to support services and transformation projects.
Ensure compliance with Financial Standing Orders and corporate financial policies.
Develop robust financial plans aligned with the Council’s Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS).
Lead financial modelling of demand-led budgets, using trend data to inform decision-making.
Support statutory accounting, external audit, and legislative requirements.
Maintain effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
Coordinate the Corporate Finance training and development programme, including apprenticeships.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in senior finance leadership roles.
Strong knowledge of strategic finance, business partnering, and public sector financial frameworks.
Expertise in budget-setting, monitoring, and financial modelling.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to lead teams and influence senior stakeholders.
Commitment to delivering high-quality financial advice and supporting organisational objectives.
Enhanced DBS and eligibility to work required.
