Summary
EYFS Teaching Assistant
Want practical Early Years experience before teacher training?
Support children through purposeful play, clear routines, and well-sequenced early learning.
*** EYFS Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £85 - £110 per day
*** ‘Outstanding’ primary school, Wolverhampton
*** Group support across the EYFS curriculum
The Role:
You will support Nursery and Reception across the day so learning feels calm and predictable. You will set up and rotate continuous provision, prepare simple resources, and keep areas tidy so children can access activities independently. You will lead short tasks in phonics, early number and fine-motor skills, then connect those gains back into play. You will model rich talk at children’s level, extend play with clear questions, and coach turn taking and sharing. You will use visual timetables and now/next prompts to guide transitions, record quick observations that inform next steps, and align daily with the class teacher and, where needed, the SENCO. You will follow behaviour and safeguarding procedures and support routines at drop-off, snack, outdoor learning and home time.
The Candidate & Requirements:
You are patient, organised and clear in your communication. You follow guidance closely, notice what motivates each child, and adapt without fuss so pupils build independence.
- Degree, 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication, confident written and spoken English.
- Enhanced DBS, held already or willingness to obtain.
- Desire to work in education/with children, strong interest in EYFS and early development.
- Experience working with children, nursery/school/mentoring/volunteering is desirable but not essential.
The School:
This ‘Outstanding’ Wolverhampton primary is multi-form entry with settled EYFS routines from arrival to home time. Indoor and outdoor areas are well resourced with clear zones for role play, construction, small world, mark making and sensory exploration. Phonics runs daily with matched reading practice. Early maths is taught in small steps with practical models and frequent retrieval, so methods stay consistent between classes. Staff co-plan and share ready-to-use activity cards, language prompts and observation sheets, which keeps workload sensible and ensures your sessions dovetail with the curriculum. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite-size CPD and short coaching drop-ins with precise, usable next moves.
How to Apply
Apply through the job advert with your CV. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and an in-school observation. Roles may close early if filled.
Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
