Summary
Teacher of Religious Education
Watford
MPS/UPS Salary Scale
ECTs encouraged to apply!
I am working with a diverse, inclusive 11-18 secondary school in Watford, Hertfordshire, to recruit a permanent Teacher of Religious Education. The school can offer flexible start dates in January 2026, April 2026 or September 2026, and is keen to hear from both ECTs and experienced teachers who are passionate about RE and ethics.
As a Teacher of Religious Education, you will join a supportive Humanities and Social Sciences faculty that values discussion, critical thinking and respect for different beliefs. You will teach RE across KS3 and KS4, with the potential for KS5 for the right candidate. The curriculum is thoughtfully planned to explore major world religions, philosophy, ethics and contemporary moral issues, and you will be encouraged to bring your own ideas and approaches to help pupils engage meaningfully with the subject.
From my conversations with the school, they are looking for someone who can create a safe, respectful classroom environment, support pupils to develop their own views and prepare students thoroughly for examinations. ECTs will benefit from a comprehensive induction and strong mentoring, while more experienced colleagues may be considered for additional responsibilities, with TLRs potentially available for those who can contribute to curriculum development, enrichment or pastoral leadership.
If you would like to explore this Teacher of Religious Education opportunity in Watford, please get in touch for a confidential conversation. I will take the time to understand your experience and what you are looking for in your next role, talk you through the school's context and support you at every step - from application to interview and beyond.
