Long Term Futures are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS3 and KS4 at a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Erdington. This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic about supporting students with a range of needs including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and speech & language difficulties.
Your Role Will Include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group SEND support
- Helping pupils regulate emotions and behaviours throughout the day
- Supporting curriculum access in English, maths, science, and wider subjects
- Implementing personalised support plans and EHCP targets
- Assisting with transitions, routines, and behaviour support strategies
- Giving feedback to teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams
- Building trusting, professional relationships with pupils who require consistency
- Supporting interventions that boost literacy, numeracy, and social communication
We're Looking For:
- Experience supporting young people with SEND in a school, PRU, or youth work setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and patience during challenging moments
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
- Ability to follow behaviour plans, regulation techniques, and escalation protocols
- Resilience, reliability, and commitment to long-term consistency
- Confidence working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
- Awareness of the secondary curriculum
- A nurturing, calm, and adaptable approach
