University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Research is a rewarding and patient centred career!

The research that we conduct at UHS is focused on the holistic approach to patient care and significantly contributes to the future progress of health care for all.

We truly make a difference to an individual's care and experience within UHS. We strive to ensure that research is considered as a treatment option for all eligible patients; closely working with clinical teams and within patients' clinical pathways to ensure that research opportunities and our research teams are expanding.

University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations.

Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

At UHSwe’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.

At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognizing that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We’re committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.

There are approximately 300 Research Nurses, AHPs, Midwives and Clinical Trials Assistants, working together across the Trust, within our award winning teams to bring exciting research opportunities to UHS for the benefit of our patients and for the future of healthcare.

The neurodegenerative research delivery team provides regular contact with patients and healthy volunteers participating in research that will make a real difference to future patient care. The team undertakes drug trials, studies that look at different interventions as well as studies that help us understand more about the disease, how genes or lifestyle choices affect health, and studies that help us more fully understand neurological conditions.

Working in the team you will have the opportunity to work on a range of studies including Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neuron Disease, and other neurological conditions. With all studies, the well-being and safety of our research patients/ participants is at the heart of all we do as is our confidence that the data we provide is accurate and reproducible.

The Clinical Research Facility has an adult and paediatric ward beds plus consulting rooms, a physiology lab, temperature-humidity controlled room and a bronchoscopy suite. Majority of research patients come from the Wessex region however the CRF is a national dosing centre for advanced therapy medication so patients come from all over the country for this treatment.

Attached you will find the person specification document which provides more detail about the essential and desirable skills and experience needed for this role. We highly recommend you review this document and use it when completing your application as these criteria are used by hiring managers as guidance during shortlisting.
