Summary

Role Overview
The Electrical Improver supports qualified Electricians in carrying out installation, replacement, and testing of electrical wiring systems across domestic new-build properties. The role involves assisting with first-fix and second-fix electrical work, ensuring installations are completed safely, accurately, and in line with building regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist Electricians with the removal and replacement of wiring in new-build domestic homes.

Support first-fix installation tasks, including running cables, installing back boxes, and preparing wiring routes.

Assist with second-fix work such as fitting sockets, switches, lighting points, smoke alarms, and other electrical accessories.

Help read and follow electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and site plans.

Conduct basic testing tasks under supervision (e.g., continuity checks).

Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.

Use hand tools and basic power tools as instructed, following all safety procedures.

Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and site rules (including PPE requirements).

Report progress, issues, or hazards to the supervising Electrician or Site Manager.

Transport materials, equipment, and tools around the site as required.

Skills & Competencies

Basic understanding of electrical installation principles.

Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.

Good attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.

Competent with common electrical tools (e.g., cutters, strippers, drills).

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

ECS Card (Electrical Labourer or Electrical Improver level).

Level 2 Electrical Installation qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent) – preferred.

Progress toward NVQ Level 3 is advantageous.

Previous experience on domestic or construction sites is beneficial.

Valid CSCS/ECS site access certification (if required by the site).

Full PPE and ability to work on active building sites.
