Barnardo's is committed to helping young people aged 16–24 build the skills, confidence, and independence they need to thrive. We provide supported accommodation across Lancashire for young people who may be leaving care, have experienced homelessness, or face other challenges.
Our services offer a safe and supportive environment where young people can stay for up to two years, giving them the time and guidance to move on successfully to their own accommodation in a planned and coordinated way.
About the Services
2a High Street – 7 units of accommodation, staffed 24/7 by a dedicated team.
Mariners View – 11 self-contained flats with visiting support from our team.
Both services provide short-term housing and tailored support for vulnerable young people who are not yet ready to live independently.
About the Role - As a Support Worker, you will:
Work as part of a rota covering 7 days a week, 365 days a year (shifts include 08:00–16:00, 11:00–19:00, and 14:00–22:00).
Support young people to develop essential life skills, build confidence, and prepare for independent living.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents, sometimes working alone in a supported accommodation setting.
Maintain accurate case notes and apply safeguarding policies at all times.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children or young people (formal employment not essential).
Strong communication and listening skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Good IT and written skills for record-keeping.
Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
