Summary

Are you ready to work in a high-performing Local Authority Education Directorate?

Our Education Business Manager position will soon be available. This post, responsible to the Director of Education, will oversee a range of statutory business functions within our local area, ensuring that finance is distributed accurately to our settings and schools, and that we have sufficient places and admissions across our early years and school settings.

Additionally, this role oversees the Local Authorities Schools Forum and ensures effective financial partnership working with settings, schools, and colleges, as well as the finances of the council's safety valve programme.

This is an opportunity to join an effective education team, where the post holder will be expected to contribute to the departmental education priorities in B&NES and work collaboratively to deliver the broader objectives of the council.

Key Responsibilities:

• School Finance Leadership: Oversee the management and delivery of the council's responsibilities for managing the Dedicated Schools Grant, ensuring effective deployment of finance to early years settings and schools.
• Admissions and School Place Planning: Directly manage the Schools Capital Organisation Team (SCOT), ensuring that there are sufficient school places in B&NES and that school admissions are managed effectively.
• Early Years Finance and Sufficiency – Lead the team that works to ensure our local area has enough early years places and that finance is delivered effectively to our early years’ settings.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the management and running of our Schools Forum.
• Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Director of Education and brief elected officials when necessary on finance and sufficiency.
• Carry out: Additional duties and support the wider directorate to achieve and deliver its statutory duties and commitments to deliver broader council objectives.

Qualifications:

• Qualifications in finance or project management are essential
• Strong project management and risk management skills
• Awareness of Education and SEND legislation and best practice
• Degree in a relevant field
