We’re recruiting a full-time Switchboard Operator to join our team at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.​

As the first point of contact for many patients, relatives and staff, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring calls are handled quickly, accurately and with professionalism.​

Our department manages over 3,000 calls per day, including emergency and urgent inquiries, so you’ll be joining a team that truly keeps the hospital connected.

The Role

Answer internal and external calls within agreed KPI and SLA targets.

Provide efficient, courteous and helpful support to all callers.

Operate the internal bleep/pager system.

Maintain and update the computer database of hospital personnel, departments and contact numbers.

Carry out clerical tasks that support the smooth running of the department.

Assist in training new team members when required.

Work public and bank holidays when scheduled, as the Switchboard operates 24/7, 365 days a year.

About You

Strong communication and clerical skills.

Reliable, with the ability to work well as part of a team.

Able to remain calm and effective under pressure.

Previous switchboard or customer service experience is an advantage, but not essential - full training will be provided.
