Your new role
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance and promoting a strong safety culture within the chemical laboratories.You will:
Advise on health and safety legislation, policies, and best practices, particularly COSHH and hazardous substance management.
Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections across laboratory environments.
Deliver training and guidance to staff and students on chemical safety and emergency procedures.
Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with academic and technical teams to embed safety into research and teaching activities.
What you'll need to succeed
Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent experience).NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety.
Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and laboratory safety standards.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Previous experience in higher education or research environments, such as the pharmaceutical industry, will be desirable.
