Acorn by Synergie are recruiting a Supervisor based in Barnstaple to join team who deliver the overall managerial support and leadership across operational service delivery.
The successful candidate will have day to day responsibility for the organisation of staff/ plant and equipment and the deployment of the resources to provide customer focused service delivery.
Job Duties:
- Manage the annual stock take, be responsible for stock levels and ordering bins / recycling containers general supplies and PPE.
- To supervise, maintain communication with and monitor the Yard staff in order to maximise the performance of the service, identify staffing shortages, reacting immediately to select and deploy agency / cover staff as required
- To record all data relating to recycling materials to be recorded on DCC & Waste Data Flow systems and central Government (DEFRA) mandatory statistics.
- To identify and work with partnership organisations (parish & voluntary groups) to ensure service levels are met.
- Ensure BEC bins are emptied regularly.
- Ensure sweeping and litter bin schedules are in place and kept up to date. These also need to be maintained electronically so they accessible via the website.
- Put rotas in place to ensure sweeping cover is maintained 7 days a week, 6am till 5pm.
- To identify income generation opportunities in relation to sweeping services and recycling material processing.
- To ensure paperwork is compliant with the vehicle operating licence, including ensuring defect reports and log books are completed.
- Responsible for carrying out inspections on site operations to ensure compliance of operations to safe working practices, to minimise relevant hazards (using WAMITAB Level 4 - Competence for Household W&R Centres / non-hazardous waste transfer).
- To always work closely with workshop or external vehicle maintainer to establish vehicle availability within service schedule and non-routine maintenance to ensure sufficient transport capacity.
- Perform the full range of supervisory duties in respect of post, recruitment, shortlisting, interviews, appointments, inductions, probationary reviews, individual staff appraisals, allocating work, timely return to work interviews, sickness absence reviews, informal capability meetings, approving leave and be mindful of on-going training needs
- Deliver the relative part(s) of the service plan within agreed budget
Person Specification:
- Excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills including excellent verbal communication skills.
- Good general/technical level of education, including team leader training and/or experience of managing a large team across a range of functions.
- Excellent understanding of the requirements of a multi-functional direct labour unit, including service standards and personnel and equipment requirements.
- Experience of managing and leading
- Experience of solving logistical problems.
- Computer literacy, competent use of MS Office programs and bespoke software packages
- Good geographical knowledge of local area.
- Driving licence for van
- Working knowledge of waste/recycling collection vehicles and equipment.
