About the role of Waking Night Worker
This is a Fixed Term role with end date on 31/03/2026.
As a Waking Night Worker you will join our team, providing support to vulnerable adults, living with forensic mental health and/or complex needs in London Borough of Southwark.
Our service provides accommodation for adults with forensic mental health and/or complex needs. Our service’s aims are to enable people to return to and remain in the community and function at optimal levels of independence by providing high support. Within this, the service
-Assesses, addresses and maximises skills required for daily life in the community
-Reduces social isolation, promotes self-esteem and self-reliance
-Provides stable medium to long term housing accommodation
-Works with individuals and their circle of care to prepare for a move to longer term more independent living.
Customers may have a forensic background and be on a Mental Health Act section or subject to other formal restrictions.
You will be closely working with our customers, enabling them to live as independently as possible, whilst supporting them to lead an active and fulfilled life.
This is a full-time position working around a rota, including work during weekends and bank holidays.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have a passion for working closely with people with forensic mental health and/or complex needs and want to constantly promote and support our customers’ well-being.
You will need the following skills and experience to the role:
-Experience of delivering support to vulnerable individuals, with forensic mental health and/or complex needs.
-Experience in creating, reviewing and implementing support plans and risk assessments.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-As all of our records are recorded on a central IT system, confidence at learning new IT skills is also required.
-Ability to conduct reports within a deadline.
To meet our commitment to providing safe, high-quality services to our customers we will complete an enhanced background check with the Disclosure and Barring service, which will include a check of the Adult Barred list, once an offer of employment is made. A new check will be completed every three years.
