Where will you be working ?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our Water and Wastewater Capital project delivery team. Our team delivers large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

What will you be doing?
As our Assistant Quantity Surveyor you'll help with supporting the Contract Commercial team, you’ll be working on our United Utilities Water AMP8 contracts from our office in Preston.
You'll be providing essential cost control support to the Contract Commercial team in a wide range of activities including resources, cost tracking, analysis and reporting.
Cost Management – Proving and validating costs in relation to subcontractor, plant, materials, fuel, vehicles etc including processing of transfers and re-allocation of costs to projects. Support continuous process improvement, offering feedback on cost management systems and workflows.
Timesheet Administration – process and review staff timesheets, record and manage labour hours and updating systems.
Reporting – Cost coding and set up of new cost centres, review data consistency and support continuous process improvement.
What you’ll bring

- Previous experience with cost management with strong analytical, numerical and data processing skills.
- A proactive approach with a commitment to delivering key outcomes
- Great organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others
- An ability to identify efficiency improvements in cost management processes
- Full driving licence, as there will be an element of travel involved with the role
