As part of our growing Engineering team, we are seeking a Fabric Technician to support the delivery of building fabric maintenance and repair services at our client site in Warton, Lancashire.
This role covers a wide range of building fabric duties, including light carpentry, minor roofing repairs, routine building condition surveys, and general fabric upkeep across the estate. Experience within the building or similar would be beneficial, as you'll be hands on maintaining and repairing a variety of fabric elements. The position is physically active, involving manual handling, working at height, and occasionally within confined space.
You'll be expected to keep our client fully informed of progress, accurately record all works completed, update inspection logs, highlight remedial actions and consistently deliver a high standard of customer service. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with confidence using IT systems for task updates, are essential.
The ideal candidate will bring experience from a background in facilities management, a recognised trade background, or equivalent practical experience.
Main Duties
-General repairs to building fabrics across a large site (light joinery, patch repairs, door/ironmongery fixes, flooring repairs, basic roofing works)
-Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks, relating to building fabric
-Assist other traders (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) with routine tasks, isolations, access, and safe working as required
-Stock management of site consumables
-Support subcontractors on site, ensuring safe access, escorting when required, and assisting with locating areas of work
-Contribute to the wider engineering team by helping with estate-wide tasks, seasonal duties and general upkeep
-Flexibility to work out of hours and at weekends when on call
What we are looking for
-Experience of building maintenance, handyperson or a qualified fabric trade such as joinery, roofing, etc.
-Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a building environment
-Have a proactive approach to maintenance and building management
-Experience of PDA technology for reporting and completion of jobs is essential, as this forms part of the process to complete and sign off each job.
-Must hold a full UK driver's license
-Good communication skill and the ability to work within a team
-Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner
