Summary

The University of Strathclyde is transforming its campus, and our food and retail experience is evolving alongside it. We’re looking for an inspiring Deputy Retail Catering Manager to help shape the future of our vibrant catering operation and bring exceptional experiences to our students, staff, and visitors every day.
As our Deputy Retail Catering Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the daily operations of our nine retail outlets - with two exciting new venues on the way. Working closely with the Retail Catering Manager, you’ll ensure our service is fresh, sustainable, and customer-focused, while driving commercial growth and innovation.
You will influence menus, branding, and service delivery, ensuring each outlet reflects the diverse tastes and energy of our University community. This is a hands-on leadership role where no two days are the same – from motivating your team to exploring new trends and partnerships.
You’ll be an experienced catering or retail professional, ideally from a higher education or high street environment, with a proven record of leading teams to deliver outstanding customer service. You’re a natural motivator – someone who inspires positivity, innovation, and excellence.
Strong organisational and commercial acumen are key, as is a commitment to ensuring every outlet operates to the highest standards of quality, health and safety, and food compliance.
At Strathclyde, you’ll be part of a supportive, ambitious and creative team within Campus Services, contributing to a retail catering business generating over £1.6 million annually. We value people who bring ideas, energy, and a desire to make things better.
In return, you’ll enjoy:
• An inclusive working environment at the heart of a leading international university
• Opportunities for professional growth and development
• Generous annual leave and pension benefits
• The chance to play a key role in shaping the future of campus life.

The working hours are 35 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday, with some evenings and weekends to meet business needs.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Miss Laura Cassidy, Retail Catering Manager, (laura.cassidy@strath.ac.uk).
