Our client is a registered charity and a specialist women and girls’ organisation dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse. They are looking for a compassionate and committed Family Support Worker to join their Lotus support services team, providing support to children who are currently or have previously been affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence.

Are you the right person for the job?
Our client is looking for someone with the following skills, experience, and qualities:
• A recognised qualification in social work, education, youth and community, family work, or other relevant qualification and/or three years’ experience of working in a paid or unpaid capacity with children and young people in a group and on a one-to-one basis
• An understanding of domestic abuse and sexual violence, and the ways in which this can affect individuals
• Experience of working with families
• An understanding of multi-agency working, including Early Help, child protection, and safeguarding procedures
• An ability to work flexibly, as required, including evening and weekend work
• Experience in using basic IT programmes, email, and the internet
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience of working under pressure
• An ability to use own initiative, and to make appropriate decisions within boundaries set by the line manager and organisational policies and procedures
• An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in a role of this kind
• Experience in establishing and maintaining good relationships with a wide variety of people

For posts covering Leicestershire County and Rutland, a driving licence and access to a car are essential; for Leicester City-based posts, this is not required.
What will your role look like?
As a Family Support Worker, you will be providing essential support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence. You will work closely with families, schools, and local practitioners to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Deliver one-to-one support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence
• Deliver group programmes to children and young people affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence
• Deliver training and awareness sessions with local practitioners
• Provide healthy relationship sessions in local schools and youth settings
• Create and maintain accurate client records, including:
• referral data
• risk assessments
• needs assessments
• support plans
• safety plans
• case notes
• Maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality in all aspects of work
• Maintain good working relationships and links with outside agencies and refer to specialist agencies where necessary
• Actively implement and adhere to all LWA policies and procedures at all times
• Where appropriate, attend meetings, conferences, and forums on behalf of LWA
• Attend LWA meetings in order to advise on service issues, report on developments and requirements, and contribute to discussions affecting the organisation and its clients
• Do all else to further the aims and objectives of the organisation, and assist its Directors, paid staff, and volunteers to work to the highest standards of service provision for its clients
