Summary
Work with us at Riverford, and join a thriving employee-owned business as a Production Team Manager…
Be part of a inclusive and friendly production team
More than just a veg box….Riverford are mad about organic veg. It’s at the core of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into boxes, and deliver it to around 70, 000 homes across the UK every week.
This takes loads of brilliant people – and working here makes you a ‘co-owner’, since Riverford is employee-owned. Success means much more than just profits; we want this to be a place people enjoy coming to work, and a business our co-owners feel proud of!
We offer a bucket load of benefits….33 days holiday pro rata (including bank holidays), 30% off veg boxes and our online shop, generous company pension scheme, annual profit share (at least 10% of all our profits are split equally between all co-owners)
Delivering even greener veg - We’re in the process of swapping diesel vans to electric, with the ambitious goal of being 100% electric vans for low-emission deliveries to our customers!
This role is a Permanent contract, 40 hours per week - Working Sunday to Thursday, which is inclusive of Bank Holidays.
Location: Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, Tq11 0JU.
Pay: £38,032 per annum, including PM shift allowance
What you’ll be doing…
Our Dispatch & Collation Team manage the last step of our production process, and are responsible for roughly 2000 pallets full of customers’ orders leaving our farm in Devon every week. These orders are then delivered to different hubs across the UK, prior to doorstep delivery.
As our Collation Team Manager, you will manage a team of around 14 people, and be responsible for completing the dispatch process. Using a manual pick list, your team will pick the veg boxes our customers have ordered, add them to pallets, and get them wrapped ready to be moved into the back of the lorry. Checking the pallets at this point will be key; we need to ensure that the right veg box ends up at the right hub for delivery.
You will support the lorry loaders, making sure that the pallets are added to the lorries in a sensible order and that everything that should be included has been packed. This is the last time we see our customers orders on-site; as team leader, you will seize this opportunity to make sure we’ve done everything possible to get the right order to every customer, and to look after each of those orders in the right way.
Our Collation Team are usually the last to finish in our production department, so you will need to use your strong leadership skills to build a sense of team ownership – keeping the team motivated and engaged until the last box has been loaded and dispatched.
Excellent communication skills are essential for this role. You’ll need to work collaboratively with other departments around the business, dealing with issues and problems as they arise and ultimately keeping the department running smoothly.
Dispatch & Collation is a challenging and fast-paced department, so you will need to demonstrate to us that you are a dynamic, assertive individual who can adapt easily and enjoy working under pressure.
The Collation Team works over all seven days of the week, covering the lorries that come in and leave on both Friday and Saturday. Moreover, a small team of two cover loading and unloading Sunday to Thursday. As team leader, you will ensure this is covered off by your team.
What You’ll Bring…
People management experience in a values led organisation would be ideal.
Proven experience of working within Operations/Factory/Production environment is preferable.
A good level of Health & Safety understanding in a production environment would be beneficial.
A good standard of English literacy - written and verbal and numeracy skills are required.
Good time management and organisation skills.
What We’re Looking For…
Enthusiastic, positive in outlook; a hands-on leader.
Adaptable and versatile, with the ability to embrace change whilst bringing your team with you.
Confident communicator both verbally and written, with an ability to influence at all levels both up and down.
Good analytical problem-solving skills.
Good organisational skills.
Able to operate as a leader of the team as well as being part of the team.
At Riverford, we value quality service and our production team play a key role in our mission. If you’re looking for a job where you can make a difference and join a friendly, supportive team, we’d love to hear from you!
