Summary

How would you like to get paid for five days, but only work four?

At Outcomes First Group, we believe in better work/life balance — and we’re putting wellbeing first.

That’s why we’re proud to be part of a 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) trial, where you can work one day less each week (or equivalent hours), while still receiving your full-time pay.

Many of our schools have already introduced the 4DWW — and others are preparing to roll it out as soon as they reach full staffing. So, whether it’s already in place or just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to join #teamOFG.

Job Title: Pastoral Manager
Location: Wetheringsett Manor, Suffolk, IP14 5QX
Salary: £33,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: February 2026
UK applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

Are you passionate about transforming young lives? Do you thrive in a role where every day brings the chance to make a meaningful difference? At Wetheringsett Manor School, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated—and as our Pastoral Manager, you’ll be at the heart of making that happen.

We’re looking for someone who brings compassion, conviction, and calm leadership to a role focused on the wellbeing, inclusion, and holistic development of our children and young people. If you’re driven by creating safe, nurturing, and empowering environments where students can grow—this is the opportunity for you.

About the Role

As Pastoral Manager, you will play a vital role in shaping the emotional climate of the school—ensuring every young person is supported with dignity, respect, and care. You’ll be the steady, reassuring presence students turn to during moments of challenge, and you’ll guide staff in creating supportive strategies that promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and full participation in learning.

Your work will blend direct support for pupils with strategic oversight, helping shape long-term plans for each young person’s wellbeing and development.

You will:

Foster a positive, nurturing atmosphere built on acceptance, respect, and inclusion
Provide direct support to students experiencing crisis or requiring additional care throughout the school day
Work closely with teachers to promote effective support approaches that enable students to remain engaged in learning
Collaborate with the Head of Education to introduce and embed pastoral strategies aligned with the school’s ethos
Champion safeguarding, dignity, and equality—challenging any practice that falls short of our values
Who We’re Looking For

Someone who is:

Calm, confident, and compassionate under pressure
Passionate about improving the lives of children with diverse needs
A strong communicator who can influence and guide others
Highly organised with a natural ability to lead and support teams
Committed to embedding the school’s values in everything they do
If you’re ready to shape a positive future for young people and lead with empathy, we’d love to hear from you. This is more than a role—it’s a chance to truly change lives every single day.

About the School

Wetheringsett Manor School is a new independent day SEMH School for up to 100 pupils aged 7-18. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.

Wetheringsett Manor School has gone through significant refurbishment and is based in Suffolk, East Anglia and opened to pupils in November 2020. The Manor House is located in 17 acres of parkland with wooded boundaries and sits on the edge of the village of Wetheringsett. The accommodation also provides several other buildings including a converted stable block, a cottage and two industrial units.

We pride ourselves in steering pupils in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to progress them both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, we build confidence in our students, so they are able to have a greater understanding of the wider community in which they live.

We are really proud to say that in 2024, Outcomes First Group were officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the fifth year running.

Why join Acorn Education?
