Summary

About the Role

In partnership with the Head of School and Assistant Principal (School), you will contribute to strategic planning and lead on operational management for the Electrical Engineering department, inclusive of modern apprentices in both Electrical Engineering and Electrical installation and commercial activities. You will provide leadership and motivational management to curriculum teams, and knowledge of the regulatory requirements for these areas would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility for the successful development of a defined curriculum, as well as implementation of College strategic aims and objectives through leadership of operational planning, performance, monitoring and reporting and operational management of resources.

The role may be required to teach up to 12 hours per week.

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential:
o Qualified to HND/Degree (SCQF 8/9) or SVQ Level 4/5 in the relevant vocational area
o A relevant teaching qualification
o Relevant experience of teaching and qualifications within curriculum areas.
o Proven effective educational practitioner (experience of innovation and development of successful methodologies in curriculum delivery).
o Proven record of evaluative ability, to recognise areas for improvement and plan for excellence.
o Comprehensive experience in the effective application of national quality standards.
o Proven Experience in curriculum design and planning
o Experience of quality audit and enhancement activity
o Awareness and understanding of wider college strategic planning and direction.

• Desirable:
o Management qualification
o Qualification in e-learning
o Qualification in enterprise
o Experience of community education
o Experience of designing and managing essential skills activity
o Experience of developing blended learning materials
o Proven effective leadership
o Experience of business income generation
o Experience of external partnership working

Skills and Attributes

• Essential:
o Organisation skills to ensure effective and efficient use of resources.
o Excellent written, listening and speaking skills.
o Appropriate knowledge of existing, emerging and assistive technologies to support and enhance the learning process
o Experience of budget management achieving financial targets and effective use of resources.
