About the role

We are delighted to share that we are now recruiting for a Risk Technologist to join the team here at Tesco.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Marketplace onboarding team to ensure sellers are thoroughly vetted and product listings meet all relevant standards.

You’ll be responsible for making sure products comply with laws and regulations across quality, safety, environmental impact, and legality.

Collaborating with colleagues in Commercial and Technology, you’ll help shape the systems and processes that underpin a responsible and resilient Marketplace.

You will be responsible for

  • Ensure that all products sold on our marketplace comply with relevant laws and regulations related to supplier and retail quality, safety, environment and legality.
  • Develop and implement technical compliance policies and procedures related to supplier and retail quality, safety, and legality.
  • Collect and verify information from third-party sellers who want to join our marketplace platform.
  • Risk assess products and introduce more due diligence for high-risk products, such as electrical, food, or health-related items.
  • Manage seller on-boarding checks and product induction, ensuring that sellers meet the technical and legal requirements to sell on our platform.
  • Ensure relevant Tesco policies are met, such as product safety, sustainability, and ethical sourcing.
  • Brand risk assessment of minor brands, ensuring that they do not damage Tesco\'s reputation.
  • Corrective actions and improvements to be made to due diligence before launch, ensuring that any issues or gaps are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ensure quality of new product listings, checking that they have accurate and complete information, images, and descriptions.
  • Liaise with strategic sellers on broader policies and strategic priorities, providing feedback and guidance on how to improve their performance and compliance.

You will need

  • Strong knowledge of relevant UK and EU laws and regulations related to supplier and retail quality, safety, and legality.
  • Relevant knowledge/experience of delivering safe, legal and responsibly sourced, great quality products to our customers.
  • Experience in Product technical compliance, quality assurance, or risk management.
  • Desirable Knowledge of e-commerce, marketplace, or retail industry.
  • Familiarity with Tesco\'s policies and standards, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Extensive knowledge of legislation and technical standards relating to food and non food areas.
  • Understanding of retail and customer needs.
  • Understanding and application of risk and risk assessment.
