Summary

Do you have the commitment and positive values to make a difference to the lives of people living in our Oaklea House supported living service in Barrow in Furness?

Our Supported Living Service in Barrow provides person-centred support to adults who have learning disabilities, some of whom are on the autistic spectrum and have mental health needs.

We are looking to recruit passionate and motivated Senior Support Workers with a genuine interest in providing quality care to the people we support and becoming part of our friendly and energetic staff team. You will provide person-centred care and support to tenants to take part in all aspects of everyday life and to enjoy a wide range of activities. You will have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the young people we support. You will have the maturity to be able to work within a positive behaviour support framework, to accept responsibility and to grow in confidence as a skilled practitioner. You must be able to follow agreed guidelines and to work positively within a consistent, mutually supportive team ethos.

Senior Support Worker duties include:
- Supervising, managing and mentoring a team of staff
- Developing and sustaining warm and trusting relationships with service users
- Encouraging service users to engage in a range of exciting social activities, both within and outside of their homes
- Providing personal care, administering medication and lone working
- Working full time hours (37.5) on a rota basis, covering 7 days per week, including sleep over shifts.
- You will be required to support with overseeing staff deployment and rotas and to work in a flexible manner yourself including working some evenings and weekends.
- Working closely with local multi-disciplinary teams and community based agencies to provide holistic, wrap-around support
- Facilitate service user engagement, involvement and peer support
- Ensure that there are robust methods of quality monitoring
- As a senior support worker you will be part of the local on-call team

You will provide excellent customer care and proactively communicate with stakeholders in respect to risk management and the care and welfare of the people we support. You will have a strong ethical duty of care and a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

As this is a senior role, experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs is required.
