Role Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about leading people and driving performance. As an Operational Manager, you’ll inspire and support a team to deliver high-quality services, encourage innovation, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll play a key role in translating strategic goals into day-to-day operations, managing performance, and ensuring excellent customer outcomes. With a strong focus on collaboration, inclusion, and development, you’ll help shape a positive working environment where individuals and teams can thrive.

Willingness to travel and overnight stays may be required on occasions. We are reasonable with our expectations and provide flexible working arrangements to support this need.

Key responsibilities

  • To lead and manage a team to achieve key operational delivery targets, including management of HEO Line Managers
  • To recognise and deal with management issues within the team and resolve them quickly and effectively, robustly dealing with performance issues – applying the correct HR principles to process and escalating where appropriate.
  • To create and promote an inclusive working environment that values everyone for their individual contributions.
  • To engage and support the team through change by communicating the need for change, identifying, and promoting potential benefits, and ensuring the team feel involved in the development of change plans.
  • Monitor operational performance of the team against strategic targets and objectives.
  • To identify and communicate business needs and robust workforce plans to maximise efficiency, and to manage and mitigate potential risks.
  • To encourage innovation within the team to enable continuous improvement suggestions to be captured, evaluated, shared and implemented.
  • Quality Assurance of Council Tax products following an initial training period.
  • To be confident in holding performance-based conversations to drive productivity within the team.
  • To drive and support performance for L3 Apprentices in Council Tax and ensure learners have the correct support for completion of the programme.
