Teaching Assistant – Reading Specialist
Location: Christopher Hatton Primary School
Contract: Fixed-term until 19th July 2025| Term time only
Hours: 15 hours per week
Start Date: 5th January 2026
Salary: Grade 3, SCP 5 £31,086 – SCP 6: £31,530
(Actual Salary: £11,565 - £11,731)

Are you passionate about helping children develop a love of reading and improve their literacy skills?
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant – Reading Specialist to join our friendly and supportive team at our vibrant Camden primary school. This is a fixed-term, part-time role for 15 hours per week, over a minimum of 4 days, working term time only – until 19th July 2026.
This would suit someone retired or with family commitments, as the hours can be flexible.
About the Role:
As a Reading Specialist TA, you will:
• Work with individuals and small groups to support reading development.
• Deliver targeted interventions to boost reading confidence and comprehension.
• Work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to support pupil progress.
About You:
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience supporting reading and literacy in a primary school setting.
• Is confident using phonics-based approaches and other reading strategies.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is committed to helping all pupils succeed.
• Is proactive, organised, and a strong team player.
