Summary

Job Overview

The Teaching Assistant provides crucial, targeted support to the Class Teacher, ensuring effective learning and the progress of all pupils. This role focuses on promoting an inclusive, positive, and safe educational environment, particularly through individual and small- group interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Pupil Support: Deliver learning interventions, reinforce concepts taught by the teacher, and assist pupils on a small-group basis to ensure access to the curriculum.

Classroom Management: Assist with preparing, setting up, and clearing away lesson materials and resources. Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour and promoting positive classroom conduct.

Assessment & Welfare: Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting achievements and concerns to the Class Teacher. Supervise pupils during non-contact time (breaks/lunch) and ensure adherence to all safeguarding policies.

Requirements & Skills

Essential: Previous experience working with children in a structured setting. Must pass an Enhanced DBS check.

Skills: Excellent communication, patience, empathy, adaptability, strong literacy and numeracy skills, and the ability to use initiative. A commitment to continuous professional development and safeguarding children is essential.
