Crynodeb

This post is a joint Communications and Administration role (0.6 WTE) with a fractional Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) component (0.4 WTE).

If appointed, you will support the smooth delivery of communications, engagement, and administrative tasks across a range of projects within the Secure Data Environment programme. You will help organise and deliver public engagement activities, support communications outputs, and ensure effective coordination of meetings, recruitment processes, and content creation.

This is a delivery and operations-focused role. Strategic design and creative engagement approaches will be retained by the Communications and Engagement Director. The postholder will play a vital role in ensuring day-to-day delivery, problem-solving, and operational follow-through.

Communications and Administrative Support (0.6 WTE)

• Manage logistics and administration for meetings, events, and workshops.

• Provide minutes, record actions, and ensure timely follow-up.

• Support procurement processes (e.g., hiring professional services for creative resource development).

• Maintain and update communication channels, including social media accounts.

• Assist with the preparation of newsletters, reports, and public-facing content.

• Collate and organise feedback from events and activities.

• Support the development of routine comms outputs for programmes (e.g., research asset registers, DAC updates, infrastructure communications).

Public Engagement Support (0.4 WTE)

• Support the organisation of public and community group meetings (online and in-person).

• Help recruit new members of public groups, including advertising, sorting applications, and supporting induction processes.
Coordinate logistics (dates, times, locations, agendas, materials) for engagement activities.

• Act as the first point of contact for public members’ queries.

• Ensure activities are inclusive and welcoming to all participants.

• Collect and summarise qualitative and quantitative insights from engagement work.

Values and Qualities

We are looking for someone who is:

• Solution-oriented with an interest in problem-solving.

• Organised and diligent, with strong attention to detail.

• Proactive, willing to reach out and seek clarity.

• A clear communicator, able to engage confidently with a wide range of people.

• Enthusiastic to learn and adaptable to new tasks.

• A team player who values inclusion and fairness.

Development Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to work with senior leaders in the health data research and engagement space.

As well as developing core delivery skills, the postholder will be supported to explore additional areas aligned with their own motivation and interests. These could include:

• Report writing and data visualisation.

• Graphic design and animation.

• Creative engagement methods.

• Qualitative or quantitative research support.

This role provides a pathway to build skills and confidence in public engagement, communications, and project delivery within a nationally important programme
