Crynodeb
The successful applicant will be a key member of the West Wales Infection Service, working closely with consultant colleagues, clinical scientists, and infection prevention professionals across Public Health Wales and Hywel Dda University Health Board. They will be accountable to the Director of Infection through the Clinical Lead for Infection Services, West Wales, and will contribute to the strategic and operational leadership of infection services in the region. Responsibilities include: Providing specialist clinical advice and diagnostic oversight within the context of a multidisciplinary service. Contributing to the continuous improvement of clinical standards, ensuring compliance with national guidance, accreditation requirements, and professional frameworks. Supporting the development and delivery of patient-focused infection pathways and service innovations. Undertaking managerial duties as delegated by the Clinical Lead. Leading and participating in audit, clinical governance, and research activities in line with the priorities of Public Health Wales. Supporting undergraduate and postgraduate education, and contributing to the professional development of colleagues. Applicants must hold full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) and possess, or be within six months of obtaining, a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Medical Microbiology and/or Infectious Diseases, or demonstrate equivalence. Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) and/or Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), or equivalent qualification, is essential. This post provides an opportunity to influence the future direction of infection services in West Wales, with potential involvement in areas such as Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) and infection service modernisation.
