Are you looking for an opportunity to work with in a dynamic forward thinking team, whilst developing skills in DBT and MBT?

The Westminster Complex emotional needs (CEN) pathway operates across the three Westminster mental health hubs providing timely and accessible interventions to service users presenting primarily with personality related difficulties. This role will involve working across North and South Westminster Hubs. You would be part of a team, enrichened by advanced lived experienced practitioners and other members of the team including clinical psychologists.



You will work amongst and consult to hub team members, creating an environment that supports patient centred and evidenced based care for this client population.

You will work closely with the Waterview centre (specialist personality disorder service ) to ensure smooth transition s for those clients with high risk and complexity who may require the higher intensity treatment offered there.



The post is suitable for a clinician who has a core clinical training, excellent communication skills and experience in secondary mental health care and an interest in working with people with CEN. Applications from qualified clinical and counselling psychologists or nurse practitioners with experience and training in DBT and MBT are invited.

You will receive regular clinical supervision from the CEN Clinical lead.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Responsibilities:

1. To lead on triaging, signposting and coordinating of referrals to the Community Hub Team, specifically in relation to the Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) Pathway

2. To conduct psychologically informed assessments, care-planning and considering treatment options, in collaboration with service users, carers and members of the multi-disciplinary team, in accordance with the stepped care model

3. To deliver and co-deliver brief interventions, such as Psychoeducation Groups, Recovery and Wellbeing College courses, and Structured Psychological Support (SPS) for people with personality disorder

4. To provide time-limited case management for a small caseload of service users, skilfully using own lived experience to foster hope.

5. Demonstrate and share insights from own recovery to model and mentor a recovery process with service users.

6. To provide liaison to inpatient wards to consult on the management of people with personality disorders, as and when indicated

7. To provide consultation to GPs in the management of people with personality disorders, as and when indicated

8. To be able to provide crisis intervention to service users as and when indicated

9. To be involved in co-delivering structured group based treatments, e.g. MBT or DBT groups, as indicated

10. To identify safeguarding issues and demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding legislation and its implementation.



Job Flexibility

The post holder will be required to work flexibly, providing assistance as and when necessary, which may involve them in a developing role.

Working Relationships

The working relationship between all members of staff should be mutually supportive, with staff deputising and covering for each other when appropriate.

Job Purpose:

To deliver care and treatment for service users under integrated mental health hub setting, within the Westminster Complex Emotional Needs Pathway.

To work as key liaison and outreach professional between the Waterview Centre (specialist Personality Disorder service) and mental health teams in Westminster.

To provide clinical supervision, consultation and training to staff in the case management of service users, specifically in relation to Complex Emotional Needs.

To provide insights from own lived experience to relevant parties, including service users and colleagues, regarding the presentation and behaviours of service users within the integrated mental health hub setting, within the Westminster Complex Emotional Needs Pathway.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Responsibilities:

7. To provide liaison to inpatient wards to consult on the management of people with personality disorders, as and when indicated

8. To provide consultation to GPs in the management of people with personality disorders, as and when indicated

9. To be able to provide crisis intervention to service users as and when indicated

10. To be involved in co-delivering structured group based treatments, e.g. MBT or DBT groups, as indicated

11. To be available to receive clinical supervision from the multi-disciplinary team and clinical supervisors

12. To keep accurate written and electronic records, including care documentation and risk assessment, and write reports.

13. To identify safeguarding issues and demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding legislation and its implementation.

14. To engage in clinical work that will be emotionally intense and where behaviour and communication might be unpredictable

15. To use reflective practice with colleagues and in clinical supervision, to process the emotional impact of the work and remain consistent and constant in the treatment process





2. Team Responsibilities:



1. To work independently as well as in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team

2. To work along other senior team members in the Community Hub Team to co-ordinate the day-to-day work, specifically in relation to the CEN Pathway

3. To work as key liaison and outreach clinician between the Waterview Centre and the Community Hub Team

4. To contribute to the strategic development of the CEN Pathway

5. To support high quality and regular professional supervision of peer support workers locally. To contribute to the annual appraisal of staff who are supervised.

6. To input to the Trust-wide Peer Support Team around role development, access Senior Peer Supervision and support the promotion of peer and lived experience specific roles within CNWL.

7. To attend specific team meetings, supervision and staff support

8. To work in partnership with other agencies (e.g. in-patient units, A&E department, Home Treatment Teams, etc) in planning and delivering care







3. Management, Supervision and Accountability



· To hold a lived experience of recovery from distress made sense of or diagnosed as ‘personality disorder’.

· To adhere to CNWL Peer Support and Lived Experience Practitioner supervision policies.

· To work with the integrated mental health hub Manager, Clinical Lead for the CEN Pathway, Waterview Team Manager, and other senior staff to ensure clear communication and co-working within the CEN Pathway and with other services.
• To engage in regular Senior Peer Support supervision groups and individual discipline specific supervision.

· All information concerning patients/clients and staff must be treated as strictly confidential at all times.





5. Safeguarding



· All staff have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults at risk of abuse.

· Staff should be aware of local safeguarding procedures and how to contact named professionals for advice and support as well as reporting any concerns.

· Staff are supported with the supervision and training needed to recognise and act on welfare concerns and to respond to the needs of children and adults.

· Staff have a responsibility to ensure they are up to date with any safeguarding training.
