Summary


We have a new Volunteering Opportunity at RDaSH for an Inpatient Support Volunteer at Hazel Hard, to support patient experience of care and the effective running of the inpatient environment.

· Ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all patients and relatives

· Direct patients and relatives within the department

· Pass patient labels/notes to and from reception to clinical areas

· Replenish leaflets and information when required

· Support the distribution of food and drinks to patients including giving out meals and drinks, refilling water jugs, checking and recording fridge temperatures

· Assist and prompt patients to eat their meals as directed by Ward Staff (if volunteer has participated in training)

· Support the cleaning up of dishes and cups following mealtimes

· Help patients to complete menu cards

· Support virtual visiting for patients and families on hospital provided technology

· Cleaning the virtual visiting equipment between use and ensuring it is charged

· Accompany patients to other areas of the hospital as required

· Answering telephones and door on ward and fielding enquiries and taking messages

· Stocking up supplies

· Report any concerns to the Supervisor / Service Manager

· To help support the upkeep of the gardens and grounds surrounding Hazel Ward.
