Team Manager – Targeted Early Help

Are you a qualified Social Worker with proven leadership and management knowledge, and experience supporting children and families in the Social Work or Early Help field?

The primary objective of this role is to ensure safety and positive outcomes for all children through the delivery of high-quality Targeted Early Help services.You will play a pivotal role in fulfilling our organisational vision and strategic priorities by overseeing and enhancing the performance and delivery of Targeted Early Help support for children and families across the Team.

About the role

As a Team Manager, you will lead and manage a team by overseeing staff development, performance management of Seniors and Early Help practitioners within Early Help.Your role will be key in effective service delivery by properly assessing, prioritising, and taking action on all casework to meet the needs of children and families. You will provide high-quality supervision and appraisal to maintain consistent standards across the team.Supervision will be used to reflect on professional practice and to identify areas for ongoing development.

In terms of management oversight, it is essential to ensure that Early Help interventions comply with relevant legislation, policy requirements and performance targets.You will be able to address poor practice within the team, escalating issues when necessary, while also promoting and embedding best practices throughout the team and division.Additionally, you will offer expert advice on casework and ensure to maintain accurate & current records and information systems to support sound practice.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • You will hold Social Work qualification with Social Work England membership.
  • Advanced qualification in Social Work or evidence of having met the capabilities at advanced level.
  • Systematic working knowledge and understanding of Children Act 1989 and 2004 and the Children & Families Act 2014, including awareness of current national policy drivers, legislation, affecting children’s social care.
  • Proven leadership and management knowledge and experience in a similar role working with children / families in the Social Work / Early Help field.
  • Experience of managing a team / service with a complex caseload, developing effective work allocation and case work prioritisation systems; deploying resources flexibly to respond to service pressures.
  • Ability to interpret management information and performance data in order to identify performance issues and develop solutions.
