Summary
The Podiatry Service covers the Pennine Lancashire footprint of the six boroughs of Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ribble Valley, Rossendale. and Blackburn with Darwen. An exciting employment opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist working within East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Podiatry Department.
The Podiatry Service provides a range of clinical services within the community, hospitals, domiciliary, residential and nursing home settings for the at risk patient caseload including Diabetics, Peripheral Vascular Disease patients and Connective Tissue disorder patients.
The Specialist Podiatrist will be based in one locality team but will be expected to work across all localities for the Podiatry Service.
The post holder will be expected to work t evening clinics and Saturday morning clinics for the Podiatry Service when required.
You should have the ability to work autonomously delivering patient care including the management of high risk patients with multiple clinical pathologies, including specialist interventions such as nail surgery, wound care, vascular assessment and Biomechanics.
You will be responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and treatment of patients on a day to day basis using the Podiatry Service access criteria.
You should have significant and extensive experience working at Band 5 Podiatrist level.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.
The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.
In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks. You will receive excellent training and development opportunities and receive support from Clinical Specialist Podiatrists and your locality Team Leader and will be part of a wider East Lancashire Hospitals Podiatry Team. You will also take part in the clinical supervision of junior staff within the Podiatry Service.
You should be aware of professional and national guidelines, be up to date with current best practice and be able to demonstrate your interest in continued professional development and clinical audit.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
Duties will include assess and provide a high quality standard of podiatric care to high risk patients in the local population.
To assess, diagnose and provide a comprehensive range of treatments by various techniques and specialist equipment to manage various foot disorders.
To work as part of a multi-professional team to deliver high quality care to high risk patients within East Lancashire Hospitals Trust providing advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals.
To monitor closely and formulate treatment plans for high risk patients such as those patients with Diabetes, Peripheral Vascular Disease and Connective Tissue Disorders enabling prompt diagnosis and specialist treatment.
To provide specialist advice and care management plans for Integrated Care Team Staff, Treatment Room Nurses, GP's, other health care professionals and Podiatry colleagues.
To provide specialist programmes of care through assessment and diagnosis to patients with complex pathologies such as ischaemia, diabetes, neuropathy and ulceration following referrals direct from GP's, other healthcare professionals and Podiatry colleagues.
