Carbon60 is looking to recruit a Joiner to work for a leading Facilities Management company based in Birmingham.
ROLE: Shift Electrical Engineer
PAY RATE: £ 19.61 p/h PAYE
JOB TYPE: 4 months Contract
LOCATION: Birmingham, B15
HOURS: 4 on 4 off rotation 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am through the year
The Role:
- The Electrical Engineer (Shifts) delivers planned and reactive maintenance, testing, and compliance work across the Facility estate on a 4-on-4-off rotation. The role supports the Acute Hospital, Mental Health Unit and Retained Estate, completing PPMs, breakdowns, and all tasks to Client's KPIs.
- Responsibilities include working independently from drawings, setting up new work, and accessing clinical areas such as ITU, A&E, Operating Theatres and the Mortuary.
- The engineer must work to HTMs, CDM, Health & Safety and company rules, taking corrective action during emergencies and carrying out Clients safety visits, monthly audits, and equipment inspections. The role also includes managing shift utilisation, absence, timesheets, and rota coverage; maintaining safe workshops; supporting UHB and BSMHFT; responding to estate events; and using CAFM systems for accurate reporting. Additional duties include supporting Condition Surveys, Lifecycle Plans, budget tracking, stock control and asset updates.
- This role is critical to statutory compliance, service continuity, safe clinical environments, high maintenance standards, and accurate estate data.
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (7am-7pm / 7pm-7am). Work may involve clinical areas and distressing situations.
The Successful Candidate:
- The successful candidate will have management/supervisory competency or at least 5 years' experience in NHS or critical infrastructure, along with an indentured apprenticeship or equivalent trade training.
- They must have healthcare or PFI experience and relevant City & Guilds qualifications including Electrical Installation, 18th Edition, and Testing & Inspection (2394/2395).
- Desirable qualifications include ONC/HNC/HND, HTM Authorised Person (MGPS, Ventilation, LV/HV), 5+ years LV/HV experience, Mechanical or Confined Spaces AP, IPAF MEWP, IOSH/NEBOSH, IWFM, or an Engineering Degree/Masters.
