Carbon60 is looking to recruit a Joiner to work for a leading Facilities Management company based in Birmingham.
ROLE: Electrical Craftsperson
PAY RATE: £ 16.92p/h PAYE
JOB TYPE: 4 months Contract
LOCATION: Birmingham, B15
HOURS: Monday to Friday 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM
The Role
- The Electrical Craftsperson undertakes improvement works, maintenance and repairs of plant, services and physical assets across Mental Health Sites, including testing and routine fault finding. Responsibilities include completing all duties required to maintain NHS Trust services, working in compliance with Client's KPIs and contract requirements, and participating in the out-of-hours on-call rota (vehicle provided).
- The role is essential to maintaining high standards across the BSMHFT estate and ensuring full statutory compliance for all services and facilities.
- Key duties include working independently from instructions, drawings and specifications; setting up new work using the correct tools and equipment; and, after training, working from tower scaffolding, MEWPs, ladders and confined spaces.
- The role requires carrying out unsupervised maintenance and repairs, reporting defects, learning new techniques, and understanding the Client's estate to deliver work efficiently.
- The post holder must understand how different maintenance crafts interact and be able to receive instructions via radio or PDA, often with interruptions to work patterns.
- Compliance responsibilities include working to all relevant regulations, Codes of Practice, Health & Safety requirements and Client's/Statutory safety rules. Additional tasks include producing material lists, delivering PPM and Reactive work within required timescales, maintaining clean and safe workshops, recording information on Maximo or similar systems, understanding electrical systems across the estate, diagnosing and repairing faults, and ensuring plant and equipment operate efficiently. The engineer will also support Management by completing any additional duties required to meet contract and KPI obligations.
- The role includes developing additional skills through training to increase flexibility, sharing knowledge with others, and participating in the on-call rota with a company vehicle provided.
The Successful Candidate
- The successful candidate will have completed an Electrical Installation approved apprenticeship with one of the following pathways: C&G Part A & B, City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2, City & Guilds 2330/2365 Levels 2 & 3 Diploma, or EAL Electrical Installation QCF Diploma Levels 1-3. They must also hold the EAL Level 3 Electrotechnical NVQ or C&G 2357 Level 3 NVQ, AM2, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (C&G 2382-18), and City & Guilds 2391-50 Initial Verification of Electrical Installations, along with a valid driving licence. HTM-06-(02)(03) Competent Person for LV is also required.
