Applicationsareinvitedforanenthusiastic,motivatedandcommittedindividualstojoinourfriendlyteamwithintheEmergencyDepartmentatColchesterHospital. This is a 12 month fixed term post in the first instance



Opportunities to gain experience in other specialties such asITUand/orAnesthetics,Paediatrics,AcuteMedicine andTraumaandOrthopedicswhichallowsan opportunityforcareerprogressionandthepossibilitytoapplyfor Pathway Portfolio inEmergencyMedicine.

Pay:12.5PAs(ofwhich1SPA/week).

Therotaoffersanexcellentwork-lifebalanceallowingannualleavespellsofuptothreeweeks.Therota alsoallowsprotectedweeklyteachingsessionsandanewjournalclubisbeingsetupbyourFCEMconsultants

AnallocatedmentorwithinEmergencyMedicine aswellasaclinicalsupervisor whenonsecondmentwillbeprovided.

Local opportunitiestobecomeALSandATLSinstructors,aswellasfullsupportfromallEMconsultantstoprepareforFCEMareprovided.

TherotaallowsprotectedweeklyteachingsessionsandanewjournalclubisbeingsetupbyourFCEMconsultants.

ColchesterEDisaMajorTraumaUnitwithahelipadinfrontofthedepartmentandhascloselinkswithEmergencyDepartment/MajorTraumaCentreatAddenbrooke’sHospitalinCambridge.
CLINICAL


ThesuccessfulcandidatewillbeclinicallyresponsibletotheConsultantsforthereception,resuscitation,diagnosis,andinitialtreatmentofallemergenciesinthemainEmergencyDepartment. Thereisthesameresponsibilityforclinicaldecisionsonappropriateadmissionofpatientsintohospitalbedstospecialunitsorotherhospitals,toout-patientclinics,ortothecareofthefamilydoctor.

He/shewillshareresponsibilityforcoordinatingthehospital’smajorincidentprocedure

The post-holderwillalsohaveavaluableopportunitytoparticipatein thefurtherdevelopmentofservices,whichformsanimportantandoftenneglected,partofhighermedicaltraining.
