Part-Time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 18-year-old girl living in Porth with my family and pets. I have a diagnosis of Global Developmental Delay and Epilepsy. I have regular seizures but take medication for this.
You will need to be my eyes and ears because I don’t have any sense of safety and danger, especially on the road. I can wonder off when in the shop as I’m easily distracted. I must be closely supervised at all times.
At the moment my confidence is low and I find it difficult to initiate or engage in conversation. When I’m out at the park I prefer it to be quiet and don’t like playing with other children.
PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of the job is to create a calm environment to gain life skills away from the comfort of my mum.
You will support me to gain confidence around new people and social situations.
HOURS OF WORK
3 hours per week.
RATE OF PAY
£14.00 per hour
40p mileage allowance
TASKS INVOLVED
Taking me out in your car to the shops or park
Going for short walks in the local area if the weather is decent
Playing games with me and taking the time to get to know me
Supporting me to learn ways to cope with the world around me
Supporting me to learn independence and new life skills
Reassuring me when I am not coping well
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
A friendly, patient and understanding person is important
Someone energetic, outgoing and fun
Someone who will put in lots of effort to get to know me as a person
Ideally you’ll have some experience with my disability, but this is not essential
